Grout that has gone crumbly or dark at the joint is not only cosmetic — it is the point where water starts getting behind tile. Regrouting means removing the old material to depth first, not smearing new grout over the top of it. The tub-to-tile joint is a separate problem: it moves, so it needs flexible caulk rather than grout, which is why it fails again every time somebody grouts it.

What the visit covers

  • Cracked and failing grout removed to depth and replaced
  • Tub, shower pan and countertop joints re-caulked with the right sealant
  • Loose tiles reset
  • Grout cleaning and sealing
  • Shower niche and corner detail work

Questions about grout & caulk repair

Almost always because the joint moves when the tub fills and it was grouted, not caulked. A flexible sealant in a properly cleaned joint holds far longer.

Closely, though existing grout has usually darkened with age. On a small repair we match the current shade; on a full regrout you choose the color fresh.

Follow the cure time on the product we use — typically 24 hours for caulk. We will tell you the exact window before we leave.
